Published on Saturday 16 May 2026. Norbury residents who have wondered whether fostering might be possible for them have a chance to ask Croydon Council’s fostering team directly during Foster Care Fortnight.

Croydon Council says it is supporting the national Foster Care Fortnight campaign, which runs from 11 to 24 May 2026 and is led by The Fostering Network. The council is using the campaign to encourage more local people to consider whether they could provide a safe and stable home for a child or young person.

The council has listed three free public drop-in sessions across the borough. No appointment is advertised as necessary, and the sessions are intended for people who are curious, have questions, or want to understand what the process involves.

Drop-in sessions listed by Croydon Council

  • Christ Church, Purley: Tuesday 19 May, 12pm to 2pm.
  • CVA Centre, Centrale Shopping Centre, Croydon: Thursday 21 May, 11.30am to 12.30pm.
  • Thornton Heath Library: Friday 22 May, 10am to 1pm.

For Norbury residents, the Thornton Heath Library session is likely to be the nearest of the three listed venues, but residents can use any session that suits them.

Croydon Council says foster carers receive support and training, including opportunities to connect with other carers through its fostering support arrangements. Anyone considering fostering should use the sessions to ask detailed questions about eligibility, timescales, training, allowances and the day-to-day responsibilities involved.
